Culture

Our cultural venues all boast 4 stars from VisitScotland and are well worth a visit.

We exhibit a regularly changing programme of visual art exhibitions, many of which are often unique to Scotland and a range of semi-permanent exhibitions highlight East Ayrshire’s social and natural science collections. A current highlight is a display featuring Johnnie Walker & Sons, the worldwide whisky phenomenon, as well as a replica of John Wilson’s printing press, which printed the first book of Robert Burns’ poems – Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect – more commonly known as the Kilmarnock Edition. Original Burns manuscripts are also on display including The Twa Dogs and the Cottar’s Saturday Night.

Our museum collections form a major part of the social and cultural heritage of Ayrshire and include irreplaceable material of local, national and international importance.

Our collections can be viewed online at www.futuremuseum.co.uk

The Palace Theatre (currently closed) and Cumnock Town Hall have a year round programme of performing arts and the Grand Hall hosts large scale events and gigs.
