Morton Hall Set to Re-Open

Contractors, CBC Stone, handed the keys to Morton Hall back to representatives from East Ayrshire Leisure & East Ayrshire Council this week.

This community venue, which sits in the heart of Newmilns, has been subject to some major renovation work over the past year, which has included the refurbishment of the main hall & connecting areas, external works to the roof and stone masonry, upgraded toilet facilities and the development of a brand new library space. Brand new furniture and fittings have been installed to create a bright and airy space for library users and visitors of all ages to access and enjoy

One of the most significant pieces of heritage work has been the conservation and restoration of the stained glass windows throughout the building. These works were carried out by Rainbow Glass and will ensure the longevity of these beautiful windows for many years to come.

Anneke Freel, Chief Officer of East Ayrshire Leisure said, “We are delighted to be only a few weeks away from being able to re-open the Hall again. The works have hugely improved this historic building and the facilities within it and with the new library space; it will be a real hub for the local community”

Graeme Frame, Director of CBC Stone said “CBC Stone were delighted to work with East Ayrshire Council, East Ayrshire Leisure and their consultants in carrying out the external restoration and conservation works of this valued B listed property in Newmilns and hope that the building will now be put to good use and admired by the residents of Newmilns and the surrounding area.”

Bookings for hall hire will be available from the 1st Nov onwards by contacting bookings@eastayrshireleisure.com
