Join Ayrshire360 and the East Ayrshire Gaelic Forum for a vibrant day celebrating Scottish Gaelic, Highland culture and the rich heritage of Dean Castle - marking 10 years since it featured in the global hit Outlander

Celebrate Scotland’s stories, sounds and traditions in one spectacular day—bring the whole family and experience the spirit of Gaelic culture at Dean Castle.


What to Expect
Enjoy a packed programme of free, family-friendly activities and live performances throughout the day:

  • Outlander's Gwyllyn the Bard (Season 1)

    • Gillebride MacMillan is a singer, songwriter and writer and the Gaelic language consultant for the Outlander and it's sequel, Blood of my Blood
    • Talks about his involvement with both series and on the songs of the Jacobite campaign that culminated with the Battle of Culloden in 1746
    • Taster sessions for those who want to try learning the basics of Scottish Gaelic
  • Live Gaelic Music & Song

    • Traditional waulking songs from Sgioba Luaidh Inbhirchluaidh (Inverclyde Waulking Group)
    • Performances from the award-winning Largs Gaelic Choir
  • Storytelling & Family Entertainment

    • The Ghillie Dhu Crew bring Scottish folklore to life with engaging tales and songs for younger audiences
  • Highland Dance Performances

    • The Fitzpatrick School of Highland Dance showcase traditional dances, including the Highland Fling and Sword Dance, alongside their history
  • Hands-on Activities

    • Mini Highland Games and children’s activities
    • Gaelic-themed trails exploring Outlander filming, castle history and the surrounding natural environment
  • Explore the Castle

    • Behind-the-scenes tours highlighting filming locations and the castle’s Jacobite history and collections
    • Timings: 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm
    • Tours will last approx 45 mins each and are on a first come, first served basis. Max per tour 20 people

Torridon - One of Scotland’s most exciting folk-rock acts, known for high-energy performances blending rock, pop, Highland bagpipes and traditional sounds.
Kevin McDermott - a celebrated Scottish songwriter delivering powerful, insightful songs shaped by decades of acclaimed touring and recording.
